Virginia May Jarr, 86, of Bloomfield, Iowa passed away December 3, 2016 at the Bloomfield Care Center. She was born July 26, 1930 in Davis County, Iowa to Raymond and Lottie Henderson Ritter. She married Carl Huffman in November 1948 in Bloomfield. They later divorced. She married LaVern Jarr in October 1964 in Kirksville, Missouri. LaVern passed away earlier this year on April 23. Virginia worked at “Pete’s Cafe” on the north side of the Bloomfield square for many years. After marrying LaVern, she worked with him at Jarr’s Plumbing as a secretary. She loved working alongside LaVern and spending time with him. The couple enjoyed traveling, riding motorcycles and going out to eat together. They also loved spending time with their family and grandchildren.
Virginia was a member of the United Methodist Church in Pulaski and later in Bloomfield. She was active in the United Methodist Women and the Red Hat Society.
She is survived by two daughters, Leanna Richardson of Bloomfield, Donna Marie Eblen of Osceola, Iowa; seven grandchildren, Lisa Wimerbrener, Danice Montgomery, Nodin Eblen all of Osceola, Robin, Tammy, and Teresa Richardson all of Bloomfield, Cleona Dillavou of Kirksville, Missouri; eleven great-grandchildren; step-son, John (Wava) Jarr of Fairfield, Iowa, step-daughter, Diana Donald of Muscatine, Iowa; two step-granddaughters; nine step-great-grandchildren; five step-great-great-grandchildren; three brothers, Ronald Ritter of Newton, Iowa, Neil Ritter of Sterling, Colorado, Richard Ritter of Grimes, Iowa; three sisters, Rayetta Waddell of Downing, Missouri, Christine Shipman of Centerville, Iowa, Jackie Reed of Floris, Iowa; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; sister, Vivian Middleton; four brothers, Virgil Henderson, Larry, Gerald, and Bob Ritter; and two step-granddaughters.
Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, December 9, 2016 at the Wagler Funeral Home in Bloomfield with Pastor Tim Frasher officiating. Burial will be at the IOOF Cemetery in Bloomfield. Visitation will begin at 9:00 a.m. on Friday with the family present to greet friends from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the service. A memorial has been established to her family.
