New Charges for Attempted Murder Suspect and Additional Arrest

OTTUMWA-On Wednesday, November 30, 2016, at approximately 12:52 a.m., Ottumwa Police arrested Venhure Yosef Tsegay, age 18, of 127 Taft Circle, Ottumwa, in relation to a shooting incident that took place on November 29, involving a 16 year old victim identified as Christian Madueno. Tsegay was charged with Attempt to Commit Murder, a Class “B” Felony.

On Wednesday, December 7, 2016, the Ottumwa Police Department issued an arrest warrant for Calvin Antione Luckett, age 21, of 201 Cass Street, Ottumwa, for Robbery 1st Degree, a Class “B” Felony.

Luckett was arrested later that day in Grand Junction, Colorado, for our charge of Robbery in the 1st Degree. Luckett will be extradited back to Iowa to be arraigned on his charge.

On December 8, 2016, the Ottumwa Police Department additionally charged Venhure Yosef Tsegay, with Robbery in the 1st Degree.

The victim in the Robbery incident is Christian Madueno, age 16, of Ottumwa. The Robbery incident took place several hours before the shooting incident on November 29, 2016. Madueno remains in critical condition from his injuries.
