New Charges for Ottumwa Man in Violent Assault

OTTUMWA-On Monday, December 5, 2016, at approximately 6:00 a.m., the Ottumwa Police Department responded to 225 S. Foster in Ottumwa to assist paramedics and fire department personnel with a medical call for service.
When officers arrived, it was determined that a resident of that address identified as Jeremy Judd Richardson, age 47, had been assaulted.

A second resident at that address, Tammy Lynn Tate, age 47, also had been assaulted and was unconscious.

Johnnie Lee Boutchee, age 53, also of 225 S. Foster, Ottumwa, was initially arrested on December 5th and charged with Willful Injury, a Class “C” Felony, in relation to the assault on Jeremy Richardson. This charge was later dismissed after the following new charges were filed.

On Thursday, December 8, 2016, the Ottumwa Police Department filed additional charges on Boutchee. Boutchee was charged with Attempt to Commit Murder, a Class “B” Felony, in relation to the assault on Richardson.

Boutchee was also charged with following offenses in relation to the assault on Tammy Tate:
• Domestic Abuse Assault, an Aggravated Misdemeanor
• Willful Injury, a Class “D” Felony
• Going Armed With Intent, a Class “D” Felony
Boutchee remains in custody in the Wapello County Jail.
