Obituaries: Dallas Cunningham

OTTUMWA-Dallas C. Cunningham, 94, of Ottumwa, died at 5:55 a.m. December 12, 2016 at Hospice House in Ottumwa.

He was born July 29, 1922 near Farson, IA to Robert and Nellie Eller Cunningham. He married Nancy M. Catcott on February 8, 1946.

A graduate of Birmingham High School, Dallas served 4 years in the U.S. Army during World War II. He farmed north of Ottumwa for 67 years.

He was a member of Wesley United Methodist Church and O.B. Nelson Post #3 American Legion.

Surviving is his wife, Nancy; his children, Cathie (Win) Mosier of Ottumwa, Leslie (Le Ann) Cunningham of Overland Park, KS and Chris Cunningham of Ottumwa; 6 grandchildren, Tracy, Nicole, Katie, Tyler, Brooke and Natalie; 16 great-grandchildren; and a brother, Marvin (Rosalie) Cunningham of Dallas, PA.

He was preceded in death by a sister, Ariel Bates and a brother, Ezra Cunningham.

Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Thursday at Reece Funeral Home with Pastor Bill Hornback officiating. Burial will be in McCormick Cemetery near Highland Center with military services conducted by Walter B. Schafer Post #775 Veterans of Foreign Wars and O.B. Nelson Post #3 American Legion.

Visitation be open at 11 a.m. Wednesday. The family will be present one hour prior to the service on Thursday.
