OTTUMWA- Lawrence Wesley “Larry” Blaine, 65, of 15259 Blackhawk Rd., died at 8:23 a.m. at Hospice House in Ottumwa.

He was born June 3, 1951 in Ottumwa to George “Dick” and Betty Chesnut Blaine. He married Shannon Moore on September 16, 1972.

A 1969 graduate of Ottumwa High School, Larry had served in the U.S. Army. He attended Indian Hills Community College earning a certificate in Radio & TV Repair and in Welding. He worked for Burlington Northern Railroad for 35 years as a heavy equipment operator, retiring in 2011.

Surviving is his wife, Shannon; his children, Wesley Blaine, Wade (Whitney) Blaine, Cody (Megan) Blaine and Amibeth (Jason) Blaine Chounlamany all of Ottumwa; 6 grandchildren, Dylan, Levi, Emmalyn, Nason, Tucker and Leah; siblings, Frank (Louise) Blaine of Farson, George Blaine of Brooklyn, NY, Beverly (Gary) Neel of Richland and Karen (Cy) Young of Ottumwa.

He was preceded in death by his father, George “Dick” Blaine; his mother and step-father, Betty and Jim Peek and a brother, James Blaine.
His body has been cremated.

Memorial services will be 1 p.m. Thursday at Reece Funeral Home with Pastor Rick Bick officiating. Military services will be conducted by Walter B. Schafer Post #775 Veterans of Foreign Wars and O.B. Nelson Post #3 American Legion.

Visitation with the family present will be one hour prior to the service on Thursday.
