OTTUMWA – Frances V. Hoffman, 92, of Ottumwa died December 17, 2016 at University of Iowa Hospitals.
She was born March 29, 1924 in Fairfield, IA to Alvin and Elsie Noble Laws. She married Donald W. Hoffman on June 21, 1942. He preceded her in death on September 10, 2009.
She was a graduate of Ottumwa High School in 1942 with their motto, “Clear the track. We’re coming through. We are the Class of 42”.
She worked at Bob’s Flowers, Edd the Florist, the Ottumwa Community Schools in food service and the American Chain & Cable in Fairfield.
She was a member and past president of Iowa State Policeman Auxiliary Assoc. and the Ottumwa Police Auxiliary, a member of Sweet Adelines, two RV clubs, Holiday Ramblers and Good Sam RV Club. She enjoyed family get togethers, bowling, scrabble, crosswords, reading and taking morning walks with her daughter’s dog.
Surviving are two sons, Donald R. Hoffman of Ottumwa and Gary L. (Elverna) Hoffman of Anamosa; a daughter, Ruth Ann (Jim) Ingle of West Des Moines; six grandchildren, Jeff and Tony Hoffman both of Ottumwa, Holli (Alfred) Chan of Marion, Heather (Joel) Cripps of Bloomington, MN, and John (Jessica) Fahey of Anamosa, and Regan Ingle of Des Moines; nine great grandchildren; two nieces, Sue Sayles and Nancy Nabholz; a nephew, Steve Nabholz; extended family, Nancy Abbott, Vicki Rose, Jane Hoffman, Missy Hoffman, Cheri Butler, Mike Ruby and Sharon Christy.
She was preceded in death by her sister, Ruth Nabholz and her nephew, Scott Nabholz.
Her body has been cremated.
Memorial services will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Reece Funeral Home with Pastor Bill Hornback officiating.
Visitation with the family present will be 1 hour prior to the service.
