Obituaries: Lorraine Wratten

Lorraine Lodema (Carter) Wratten, age 83, of Albia, passed away early Saturday morning, December 17, 2016, at her daughter’s residence in Pella.  She was born on Feb 9, 1933, in Haydock, Iowa, to Floyd and Letha (Harger) Carter.

Following graduation from Albia High School in 1951, Lorraine and Charles Wratten were married on June 23rd, at the Evangelical United Brethren Church in Albia, Iowa, by Rev. Donald Gruber.  They were blessed with two children, Bill and Ann.  Lorraine loved spending time with her family, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was known for her beautiful flower garden, friendly smile and generous heart.

She is survived by her husband, Charles of Albia; children, Bill (Myrna) Wratten of Albia, Ann (Jim) Huyser of Pella; grandchildren, Jean Ann (Randall) Watts, Sandra Wratten, Lindsey Wratten, Hillary Wratten; great grandchildren, Rose, Maddox, Sawyer, Ryker; and siblings, Merlyn (Nancy ) Carter of Pella, Gilbert Carter of Omaha. She is preceded in death by her parents, Floyd and Letha Carter, brothers, Wallace Carter, and Otto Carter.

Celebration of Life Services will be held at 1:30 p.m., Wednesday, December 28, 2016 at Sinnott Funeral Home in Albia.  There will be refreshments following services for a time of fellowship at the funeral home.  Visitation will also be held on Wednesday, from 12:30 – 1:30 p.m. with family present at the funeral home. Burial of cremated remains will be held at a later date in Service Chapel Cemetery.  Memorials may be directed to American Heart Association.  Online condolences may be left for the family at
