OTTUMWA – Arlene Jean Dooley, 84, of 332 Lynwood Ave. died December 30, 2016 at Hospice House.
She was born March 20, 1932 in Ottumwa to Harold and Velma McAfee Danels. She married Loren Dooley November 12, 1950. He preceded her in death March 30, 2006.
A graduate of Ottumwa High School in 1950, she had worked for 30 years as a school secretary at Pickwick Elementary, retiring in 1997.
She was a member of Willard Street United Methodist Church where she participated in the choir and Faith Circle. She also had been a member of Rose Chapter #552 Order of Eastern Star where she served as secretary for many years. She enjoyed entertaining and cooking for family and friends. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and will be truly missed.
Surviving are two daughters, Debra Lynn (Jack) Hood of Loveland, CO and Diane Kaye (Kenny) Glattfelder of Ottumwa; four grandchildren, Justin Hood, Ashley Hood, Shane Nicholson and Emily Nicholson (Andy Noe); seven great-grandchildren, Trevonne (Brittany) Robinson, Avantae Hood, Kailee Hood, Drake Harl, Shaylin Nicholson, Hadley Noe and Donna Noe; a great-great-granddaughter, Ryelynn Robinson; a sister, Maxine Hall of Omaha, NE; several nieces, nephews, cousins and her faithful caregiver for the past 4 years, Tina Turner.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Janice Danels.
Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at Reece Funeral Home with Pastor Leila Disburg officiating. Burial will be in Shaul Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Justin Hood, Shane Nicholson, Trevonne Robinson, Andy Noe, Drake Harl and Avantae Hood.
Visitation will begin at 11 a.m. Tuesday with the family present from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday.
