Stanley Robert Sloan was born September 8, 1970 in Ottumwa, IA to Harold and Dora “Saner” Sloan. As Stan grew up he became a jack of all trades. He began driving large trucks and semis at an early age and spent over 30 years as a driver, most recently with Goff Trucking. In October of 2004, Stan was united in marriage to Mari Kenna Thompson and together they raised three boys, Ryun, Robert, and RJ. Stan loved spending time with his boys. They enjoyed attending monster truck rallies as well as demolition derbies. He had many friends that he would get together with for a game of cards, dice, or pool. Stan was a prankster, and liked to find the deepest pile of snow to take his truck through without warning his fellow passengers. He was a caring man who loved his family, and will be deeply missed by those fortunate enough to have known him.
Stan was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Cheryl Sloan and a foster father, Richard Kelley.
Left to honor his memory is his wife, Kenna Sloan of Knoxville, IA; three sons, Ryun Thompson, Robert Sloan, and RJ Sloan, all of Knoxville, IA; his foster mother, Debora White of Hereford, AZ; foster sister, LouAnn (David) Bruster of Tombstone, AZ; foster brother, Robert (Amber) White of Freeport, IL; a niece, Brittany (Matt) Fetterman of Mt. Pleasant, IA; a nephew, Justin Olson of Mt. Pleasant, IA; a best friend of 37 years, Bob Skaggs as well as many extended family and friends.
