ORHC Recognizes Cardiac and Pulmonary Patients of the Year

OTTUMWA-For 16 years Ottumwa Regional Health Center’s Cardio/Pulmonary Rehab Department has nominated and celebrated the Cardiac Patient of the Year and the Pulmonary Patient of the Year at their annual luncheon.

 

These patients exemplify a commitment to making lifestyle changes necessary to manage a chronic illness. Participation in Cardiac and Pulmonary Rehab provides the education and support to facilitate success in exercise and lifestyle changes.

Tim Martin has been recognized as the Cardiac Patient of the Year.  He has shown intense determination in changing his nutrition and exercise program. Through careful planning and weekly meal prep he’s lost over 60 lbs. He is the first Maintenance Cardiac Rehab patient who has participated in exercise 5 days a week.

Earnie Davidson has been recognized as the Pulmonary Patient of the Year.  Staff note Ernie is an individual who is an inspiration to others.  He is the perfect role model and gladly mentors other patients.  He had a double lung transplant 4 ½ years ago and has never looked back.   His commitment and regular attendance in the maintenance rehab program are truly impressive.

 

Staff presented each patient a Gold Card in recognition of putting in a year of maintenance exercise and taking charge of their recovery at the annual luncheon held on February 2nd in concert with National Heart Month.
