Ottumwa Woman Faces 18 Counts of Cruelty to Animals

Suzette Kay Stocker, age 69, of Ottumwa

OTTUMWA-On Wednesday, February 22, 2017, the Ottumwa Police Department executed a search warrant at the Suzette Kay Stocker residence located at 218 E. Woodland Avenue in Ottumwa.  As a result of the search warrant officers seized 5 dogs and 13 cats. The animals were transported to Pipestone Veterinarian Services for treatment and care. The owner has since surrendered the animals to the City of Ottumwa.


The residence has been placarded by the Ottumwa Health Department.


As a result of this investigation Suzette Kay Stocker, age 69 of 218 E. Woodland, was charged with the following:

18 counts of Cruelty to Animals

1 count of Sanitation of Premises

5 counts of Failure to License Dog

1 count of Failure to Have Evidence of Rabies Vaccination


Stocker was arrested and placed in the Wapello Jail and has since been released after posting bond.


Stocker’s court appearance is scheduled for 9:00 a.m., Thursday, March 2, 2017 at the Wapello County Court house. The charges are simple misdemeanors.
