OTTUMWA – Mary Ann Berrier, 87, of Ottumwa, died at 4:04 p.m. March 15, 2017 at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City.
She was born June 24, 1929 in Ottumwa to James B. and Marie Wilson Davis. She married Henry L. Berrier November 24, 1950. He preceded her in death June 16, 2015.
A graduate of Ottumwa Heights in 1947, she had worked in the kitchen at Walsh High School, as a receptionist for AEA 15 and for H & R Block.
She was a member of St. Mary of the Visitation and was active alongside her husband in volunteering at the Knights of Columbus and with BINGO. For a number of years she enjoyed having coffee at North HyVee. She also enjoyed spending time with her friends at Great Oak Estates and the Lodge, but most importantly was her love for her family.
Surviving is a daughter, Ann Marie (Doug) Goschke of Port St. Lucie, FL; two sons, Michael Allen Berrier of North Liberty and Scott E. (Janeen) Berrier of Leland, IA; 8 grandchildren, Bradley Berrier, Ryan Berrier, Mica (Justin) Klodt, Alexis (Joe) Hager, Tony (Annette) Blomme, Eric (Tracey) Blomme, Samantha (Eric) Blomme Wiese and Amil (Marianne) Goschke; 13 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Margaret “Maggie” (Larry) Bottorff of Ottumwa along with many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, James E. Davis and William E. Davis.
Funeral Mass will be 10 a.m. Monday at St. Mary of the Visitation with Father James Betzen CPPS and Father Patrick Hilgendorf concelebrating. Burial will be in the Rock Island National Cemetery in Rock Island.
Visitation begins at 11 a.m. Sunday at Reece Funeral Home. A Christian Wake service will be held at 6 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home followed by visitation with the family present until 8 p.m.
