Ottumwa Community School District Hires New HR Manager

OTTUMWA— Ottumwa Schools recently hired Angie Stevens to be the district’s new Executive Human Resources Director.


Stevens was approved by the Board of Directors in late February. She replaces Eric Sundermeyer, who left in February to work for Des Moines Area Community College as an Associate Director for Adult Education Literacy.


Stevens has spent her professional career working for business. She currently is the client HR manager for Cargill. Other professional experiences include serving as an assistant HR manager for Cargill; HR manager for Sigourney Tractor; and an HR Generalist at Pella Corp. She attended Indian Hills Community College and graduated from Buena Vista with a bachelor’s degree in Management.


Her job responsibilities will include leading efforts to recruit, retain and evaluate a quality workforce; advise the superintendent on all personnel issues; and facilitate and direct district recruiting efforts.

“What’s exciting to me is being part of a team that provides support to the overall school district from an HR perspective,” said Stevens.


“We are extremely excited to welcome Angie Stevens to our team,” said Superintendent Nicole Kooiker. “She has a wealth of knowledge and extensive background in all aspects of human resources.  We are looking forward to the organizational skills and new ideas she will bring to the Ottumwa CSD.”


Stevens currently lives in Oskaloosa, is married and has two daughters. She will begin her duties on July 1.
