Ina LaVelle Gleason, 104, of Bloomfield, Iowa went to be with the Lord on March 17, 2017 at the Good Samaritan Society – Ottumwa. She was born on July 8, 1912 in Bloomfield, Iowa to Harley Gordner and Nellie Stogdill Edwards. She was united in marriage on March 14, 1931 to King Grant Gleason and they spent 53 happy years together until he passed away on January 26, 1984.
LaVelle was a housewife who belonged to the Independent Order of Odd Fellows and Rebekah Lodge #1. She enjoyed knitting, crocheting, cooking, gardening, and fishing. She was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother, sister, and aunt who will be deeply missed by her family.
She is survived by a son, Keith (Sherri Sinclair) Gleason of Bloomfield; six grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and 16 great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; son, Billy Gleason; daughter, Barbara Rominger; son-in-law, Joe Rominger; grandson, Billy Joe Rominger; and three sisters, Dorothy Gibson, Velma Black, and Lucille Munn.
Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, March 20, 2017 at the Wagler Funeral Home in Bloomfield with Pastor Kramer Smith officiating. Burial will be at the West Grove Cemetery in West Grove. Visitation will begin at 9:00 a.m. on Sunday with the family present to greet friends from 3-5:00 p.m. at the funeral home. A memorial has been established to Good Samaritan Society – Ottumwa.
