OTTUMWA – Robert Alan VanBlaricome, 51, of Eaton, CO, formerly of Ottumwa died April 1, 2017 at the Medical Center of the Rockies in Loveland, CO.
He was born October 8, 1965 in Fairfield, IA to Roy and Joan Miller VanBlaricome. He married Brenda Skinner on December 27, 1990 and they later divorced.
A 1984 graduate of Cardinal High School, Robert had worked as a utility locator for Stake Center Locating. He had also worked for Meadow Gold Dairy, owned Dillards Grocery & Grill, had worked at Excel and was co-owner of Roy’s Steak House & Lounge. Robert served as a union steward at Excel and was very active with UFCW Local 230.
He faithfully donated each month to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
Robert enjoyed gardening, camping, fishing, hunting, going to the mountains with family and anything outdoors with his grandson, kids, family and friends.
Surviving are two daughters, Krista VanBlaricome of Eaton, CO and Kayla VanBlaricome of Blakesburg; a grandson, William Roche of Eaton, CO; his mother, Joan VanBlaricome of Batavia; two brothers, Royce VanBlaricome of Granite Falls, WA and Randy VanBlaricome of Ottumwa.
He was preceded in death by his father, Roy VanBlaricome.
Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Saturday at Reece Funeral Home with Pastor Jeremy Skinner officiating. Cremation will follow the services.
Visitation will begin at 1 p.m. Friday with the family present from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday.
