OTTUMWA-Each May Drug Courts celebrate their success and contribution to society by holding the National Drug Court Month (NDCM) Celebration. The NDCM Celebration shines a light on the collaboration that allows these programs to exist as well as the impact the programs have on the participants and the community. The celebration sends a message that WE are united in our effort to assist parents and their struggles with substance abuse to make them better parents and contributing members of our community.
The Wapello County Family Treatment court, Adult Drug Court, and many community partners will join together and celebrate with the community the many successes, lives, and families that have been impacted by these programs. The event will be held at the Jimmy Jones Shelter in Ottumwa, Iowa on Saturday, May 20th, 2017 from 11am to 3 pm.
This is a FREE community event; it begins at 11:00 am with a live animal educational presentation for children by the Blank Park Zoo. At 12:00 pm we will have a commencement ceremony with Judge Owens announcing and presenting the graduate’s certificate. At 1:00 pm a lunch will be served followed by a presentation from Fire House Kids at 1:30. Staff from Victory Ranch is bringing mini ponies, goats, and rabbits for children to pet and there will be a giant inflatable obstacle course and jump house.
