Ottumwa Public Library’s Reminisce Society & Humanities Iowa Presents Iowa Country Schools: Landmarks of Learning

Join Ottumwa Public Library’s Reminisce Society for a look back at Iowa’s one room school houses. This presentation reviews milestones and the impact of Iowa’s network of one room country schools. It describes how former country school buildings are being recycled. We’ll learn how some country schools have been preserved and are being used today as schools by Amish and Mennonite groups. There will also be a discussion of personal experiences from attending Iowa’s one room schools. Participants are encouraged to bring keepsakes and stories from their one-room schoolhouse days to share with the group.

Tuesday May 23rd at 10 a.m.

Presented at the KC Hall
