BATAVIA-Jack Edward Glasgow, 79, of Batavia, died at 4:15 a.m. June 9, 2017 at Hospice House in Ottumwa.
He was born September 11, 1937 to Raymond and Lucile Haifley Glasgow. He married Karen Joyce Fletcher on July 4, 1996 in Las Vegas, NV.
Growing up in Eldon, Jack served in the U.S. Navy.
He was a heavy equipment operator for the majority of his life and was a member of Local #234. Along with his wife, Karen, he owned and operated Nester’s Café on E. Main St. in Ottumwa, retiring in 2009.
Jack was a jokester and enjoyed pulling pranks.
Surviving is his wife, Karen; his three children, Julie Glasgow Ingland, Jill (Charles) Williams and Jodi (Obie) Lowe; three step-children, Melina Harbour, Kelly (Jim) Duncan and Scott Franklin; several grandchildren and great grandchildren; a brother, Ronald Glasgow of Eldon; two sisters, Martha (Claude) Davis of Catawba, OH and Lois (Frank) Wilbanks of Ottumwa; several nieces and nephews; and his dogs, Sassy and Putter.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Norman Glasgow and infant Robert Ray Glasgow; his faithful road dog and companion, Puggy.
His body has been cremated.
Graveside services and inurnment will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at Batavia Cemetery.
