Greg Allen DeMoss, age 66, of rural Ottumwa, died on Tuesday morning, June 20, 2017, with his family by his side, under the care of Hospice of Davis and Wapello Counties.
He was born on February 4, 1951 in Iowa City to Thomas G. and Flora (Sebben) DeMoss. He graduated from Albia High School, class of 1969.
Greg was an Auto Mechanic. He enjoyed planting flowers, camping, boating, hunting, bird watching, westerns, wrestling, and country music. He was a true outdoorsman. He had spent his last seventeen years with his love, Dorothy Hutchinson.
He is survived by Dorothy Hutchinson of rural Ottumwa; children, Tabitha DeMoss Chapman of Albia, Jake (Sarah) DeMoss of Avery, Jeremy (Jackie) DeMoss of Ottumwa, Justin DeMoss of Newton, Amanda (Steven) Findley of Lovilia; Dorothy’s children, Rebecca (Justin) Manifold of Pella, Rachelle (Mike) Williams of Osceola, Darin (Bethany) Hutchinson of Newton, DeeAnn Hutchinson and Joe Clark of Trenton, MO; grandchildren, Tessa and Luke Chapman, Jordan Stone, Aiden, Brody, and Cole DeMoss, Emma Rhodes, Mason Leonard DeMoss, Isabel DeMoss, Noah and Maxwell Findley; Dorothy’s grandchildren, Annmarie, Alyssa, and Lindsey Manifold, Emma, Jacob, and Ellie Williams; siblings, Margaret (Richard) Sperring of Lancaster, PA, Lewis (Janice) DeMoss of Waukee, Mary (Harold) Coop of Avery, Patty Graham of Avery, Diana (Mark) Mincks of West Des Moines, Thomas (Marjorie) DeMoss of Avery, Bob (Bonnie) DeMoss of Avery, Fran (Bill) Magie of Polk City, Michael DeMoss of Avery; sister-in-laws, Helen DeMoss of Pennsylvania, Gracie DeMoss of Avery, brother-in-law, and Richard McDonough of Des Moines. He was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas and Flora DeMoss, half brother, Lyle DeMoss, siblings, John DeMoss, Gary DeMoss, and Pam McDonough, brother-in-law, Dennis Graham, Mike Stone, and many other family members.
Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, June 27, 2017 at Sinnott Funeral Home in Albia with Pastor Raymond Lyon officiating. Burial will follow services in Cuba Cemetery near Avery. A funeral luncheon will be held at the Cornerstone Community Church in Albia. Visitation will be held on Friday, June 23, 2017, opening to the public at 1:00 p.m., and Greg’s family will greet friends from 5-8 p.m. Friday evening at the Sinnott Funeral Home in Albia.
