Train Kills One in Fairfield

Fairfield, Iowa-On June 19, 2017 at approximately 11:00 P.M., a call came into the Jefferson County Law Center that a Burlington Northern Sante Fe train was stopped through town and had all the street crossings blocked.  They had hit something and were trying to determine what they had hit.

 

Officers from the Fairfield Police Department and Deputies from the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office responded.  It was determined that an individual was on the tracks and had been hit by the train just East of the 2nd Street Overpass.  The Medical Examiner Investigator was called and it was determined that the person was deceased.

 

The investigation is ongoing, and further information will be released upon the investigation being completed. No further information will be released until that time.
