Paul Riggs has seen many changes during his 38 year career that started at St Joseph’s and continued through the merger of the two hospitals that created the Ottumwa Regional Health Center we know today. But the consistent thing he says has kept him here for so long is the good people he has worked with. Paul began his career in 1979 after graduating from the University of Iowa with a Bachelor of Science degree and a Certificate of Physical Therapy and joined ORHC in 1985.
“I’ve had a good time with the people here and it has been a good place to work,” said Paul. “In this job I have an interesting mix of patients, some inpatient and some outpatient. The variety of problems I can help patients with has been something that I enjoyed.”
“Paul will be greatly missed,” said Robin Honomichl, PT, MPT, Rehab Program Director. “He is an excellent team member who is always willing to help out wherever there may be a need. He is always kind to his patients and has a calming presence which helps put others at ease.”
In his retirement Paul has plans to travel more with his wife Ann, visiting their son and daughter who both live in Minnesota. He is looking forward to spending more time with his grandson and another grandbaby that is on the way. Paul also plans to take some time to relax on the golf course.
Congratulations Paul and thank you for all your dedicated years of service here in Ottumwa and to the profession of physical therapy.
