OTTUMWA-There are still openings for this year’s Health Careers Exploration Experience sponsored by Indian Hills Community College and the Ottumwa Regional Legacy Foundation. The Academy is open to students who will be high school juniors or seniors this fall and who have an interest in pursuing a career in healthcare. The program, funded by the Legacy Foundation, is free to participants.
Students will take part in a weeklong program held at Indian Hills July 24-28 with additional dates of Aug. 2 and Aug. 9. During the immersion program students will participate in a wide range of activities: hands-on experiences with medical procedures and equipment; speaking with current healthcare professionals and students about their career paths; lessons on paying for college through financial aid, scholarships and student loans; and career pathways and field trips to area universities/medical schools, as well as many other activities.
