Obituaries: Kevan Slycord

OTTUMWA-Kevan Garth Slycord, 63, of Ottumwa, died August 7, 2017 at his home.

He was born December 27, 1953 in Oskaloosa to Merle Rex and Bernice Systma Slycord Sr.

A 1972 graduate of Ottumwa High School, Kevan had worked for Winger Contracting Co. as a pipefitter.

He was a social member of Walter B. Schafer Post #775 Veterans of Foreign Wars and O.B. Nelson Post #3 American Legion.

Surviving is a son, Matt (Angela) Lundy of Ottumwa; 8 grandchildren, Kyle, Tyler, Marcus, Grace, Noah, Elyce, Osa and Shawna; two brothers, Merle “Sonny” (Sherry) Slycord Jr. and Bryan Slycord both of Ottumwa; a sister, Carol (Carl) Anderson of Ottumwa; numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Judy Slycord and Bonnie Turner.

His body has been cremated.

A memorial visitation with the family present will be held from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday at Reece Funeral Home.
