OTTUMWA-In 2017, The Iowa legislature made profound changes in the safety, rights and responsibility of firearm owners. (HF 517)
The League of Women Voters of Ottumwa has planned a three-part series of informative events, describing recent changes in the Iowa law. League appreciates the generous participation of members of our community who have the most in depth knowledges of these changes.
The series will begin on Firearms Laws on Thursday September 14th, 2017 beginning at 7PM at the Railroad clubhouse, 210 W Main St, Ottumwa District Court Judge Lucy Gamon, Wapello county Sheriff Mark Miller, Ottumwa Chief of Police Tom McAndrew and City Attorney, Joni Keith will discuss various aspects of the law from their area of expertise.
They have agreed to answer questions submitted by the audience, after their presentations. All questions are welcome. League will provide cards, pencils and pens for use by the audience members to ask their questions.
The series will continue at the same time and location on Thursday October 12th addressing Community and Health Impact and on Thursday November 9th regarding Business and Shooting Sports.
Citizens are encouraged to attend all three parts of the series.
There is no charge for attending.
League will provide light refreshments.
