OTTUMWA-On Tuesday, October 17, 2017, at approximately 9:30 a.m., officers from the Ottumwa Police Department and the Southeast Iowa Inter-Agency Drug Task Force executed a search warrant at 424 N. Court, Apt. 2, for items related to a Robbery investigation.
Officers located a male inside of the residence that was carrying a handgun. The male was identified as Marcus A. Jackson, age 36, of Ottumwa. Jackson was determined to be a convicted felon. Jackson was subsequently arrested and charged with the following offenses:
- Possession of a Firearm by a Felon, a Class “D” Felony
- Prohibited Acts, Possession of Marijuana, a Serious Misdemeanor
As a result of the search at the residence, officers did locate potential evidence for the Robbery investigation. The robbery was reported to police on October 10th, 2017, at 5:00 a.m., at 130 S. Fellows. The victim in the robbery is identified as Brayden Merrell, age 18, of 130 S. Fellows.
This incident remains under investigation.
