Sharon Kay Moritz, 63, of Northwood, Iowa died January 27, 2018. She was born September 25, 1954 in Bloomfield, Iowa to Joe Dean and Georgia Ann Stevig Wells. She grew up in Davis County, Iowa and graduated from Davis County High School in 1972. She would go on to receive her Bachelor’s Degree in teaching from Iowa State and a Master’s Degree from Morningside. She worked as a teacher for many years in early childhood education. She loved being a teacher and could remember all the names of her former students.
While not working, she enjoyed going to hockey games and doing word search puzzles. Her absolute favorite thing in life was being a grandmother. She loved being with her granddaughter, Kallie, and would drive hours out of her way just to spend some time with her. Sharon will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
She is survived by two sons, Karl (Alicia) Moritz of Stanhope, Iowa, Clayton Moritz of Northwood, Iowa; granddaughter, Kallie Moritz; and three brothers, Dennis and Tony of Las Vegas, Nevada, Don and Sue of Nevada, Iowa, and Daryl and Rahni of Chicago, Illinois.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Memorial services will be at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, February 17, 2018 at the Wagler Funeral Home in Bloomfield with Rev. Jack Knox officiating. Visitation will begin at 2:00 p.m. on Friday with the family present to greet friends from 5-7:00 p.m. at the funeral home. A memorial has been established to the Ronald McDonald House.
