OCSD Ready to Hire New Secondary Curriculum Director

OTTUMWA— The district has a new secondary curriculum leader, pending board approval at tonight’s school board meeting.

Superintendent Nicole Kooiker is recommending that the board approve the hiring of Marci Dunlap as the district’s new Director of Secondary Education. She replaces Jeff Kirby who was recently appointed as the new Director of Innovative Programming and will lead the SparkTank initiative for high school juniors and seniors.

Dunlap has served as the Curriculum Director for the Fairfield Community School District since 2007. Prior to that, she was a secondary language arts teacher and coach since 1994. She received her BA in Secondary English Education from UNI, and her MA and PK-12 Administrative Certification from the University of Iowa.

“I’m looking forward to working with in the OCSD,” said Dunlap. “I have a passion for secondary education and I hope to be a positive addition to the Ottumwa system.”
