AGENCY-Nancy L. Chickering, 71, of Agency, died July 16, 2018 at Ottumwa Regional Health Center.
She was born September 29, 1946 in Ottumwa to Clarence and Maxine Moravek McFarland. She married Jay Frank Chickering on February 18, 1967.
Nancy was a 1964 graduate of Cardinal High School and a graduate of Centerville Junior College. She had worked at Heady’s Restaurant, Mother’s Shop, Brody’s Store for Men and PTYC for Ottumwa Schools.
She was a member of Willard Street United Methodist Church where she taught Sunday school and was very active. Nancy enjoyed quilting, gardening, collecting many things including snow globes, reading, cooking and puzzles.
Surviving is her husband, Jay; her children, Melinda (Mike) Trevethan of Cuba City, WI, Matthew (Susan) Chickering of Ottumwa and David (Sunita) Chickering of Pittsburgh, PA; 6 grandchildren, Myah and Jayden Trevethan, Logan and Cooper Chickering, Satyan and Anjali Chickering; siblings, Dennis McFarland, Linda Kaye (Lee) Parsons, Valerie (Larry) Yahn, Dave McFarland and Gary “Bill” McFarland; brothers-in-law, David Chickering, Jack (Drue) Chickering, Chris (Debbie) Chickering; many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews; and a special cousin, Mary Lynne Marlay.
She was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Josie Trevethan; brothers, Paul and Wayne McFarland; sisters-in-law, Lynn McFarland, Judy Chickering, Janet Walter; brothers-in-law, Max Chickering, Jewell Chickering and Jim Walter.
Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Saturday at Reece Funeral Home with Rev. Leila Disburg officiating. Cremation will follow the services with inurnment in Agency Cemetery at a later date.
Visitation begins at 11 a.m. Friday with the family present from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Friday.
Memorials may be made to the family to be designated at a later date.
