Fairfield Woman Charged with Arson After Starting Fire in Washing Machine

Fairfield, Iowa – On Tuesday, August 7th, at approximately 12:34 pm, Fairfield City Officers were called for a report of a female subject, later identified as Jessica Manchester, who started a fire in a washing machine in the laundry room at the Monroe Apartments.  After an investigation, Ms. Manchester was charged with Arson 1st of an Occupied Structure.

 

This matter is still under investigation and further information will be released upon the conclusion of the investigation.  There is no identified threat to public safety at this time.

The Fairfield Police Department confirms a criminal is merely an accusation and the defendant is presumed innocent and unless proven guilty in a court of law.
