OTTUMWA—Douma Elementary Principal Amy Taylor was forced to call the Ottumwa Police Department on Thursday afternoon, September 6th when a situation occurred at her school. Around 2:55 PM a parent with a no contact order showed up at Douma, which led to the school implementing a shelter in place. All exterior doors were locked during the incident. When police arrived, they escorted the parent off of the school premises. Students were able to be dismissed a short time after the incident was resolved, which meant dismissal time was only delayed by about five minutes.
