Ottumwa Teacher and Student To Be Recognized

OTTUMWA— An Ottumwa teacher of talented and gifted students will be honored at a ceremony later this month.

The University of Iowa’s Belin-Blank Center Recognition Ceremony will honor Breanna Hinmon on September 30. One of Hinmon’s TAG students, Camdyn Crouse, nominated her. Crouse, a sixth grader at Evans Middle School, will be recognized for placing third in the 3rd-5th grade division of the 2018 State Invent Iowa Competition for her “North Pole Snowball Maker.” She competed against 68 other inventions in her division. Crouse received a certificate and a $50 gift card from Amazon. She was also the only girl in the State of Iowa to receive a top place podium finish.

Each year, the ceremony celebrates students who have received special recognition at Belin-Blank, along with their honored teachers. Belin-Blank invites over 400 students and teachers from Iowa and the country to participate.
