OTTUMWA – Tickets are now on sale for Indian Hills Community College’s annual Celebrity Night. Former Iowa Hawkeye and NFL kicker Nate Kaeding will be the guest speaker for the event, scheduled for Thursday, Oct. 18, in the Tom Arnold Net Center on the IHCC Ottumwa campus.
Kaeding, an Iowa City native, was a prolific placekicker for the Iowa Hawkeyes. He was named an All-American and the winner of the Lou Groza Award, given to the nation’s top kicker, during his time with the Hawks. He was a multi-sport athlete at Iowa City West High School before staying home to attend college.
Drafted in the third round of the 2004 National Football League draft by the San Diego Chargers, Kaeding spent almost his entire professional career with the Chargers. He was a two-time Pro Bowl selection, was named to the All-Pro team twice, and retired as the second-most accurate field goal kicker in NFL history, having made 86.2 percent of his career attempts. He played part of the 2012 season with Miami before retiring from pro football.
After his retirement, Kaeding returned to his hometown and is an entrepreneur, owner of a number of properties in Iowa City.
