Judith Ann Liles was born February 9, 1945 to Archie and Vera Ritz Durham, at the family home near Floris, IA.  She attended Cardinal Community Schools and then Davis County where she graduated with the class of 1963.  On July 26, 1964 she was united in marriage to Wallace Wayne Liles at the Eldon Christian Church.  This was the first chapter in a story that lasted over fifty years.  The two moved several times, but never far from rural Floris.  In 1973 they moved to the home place in rural Floris which she called home for the remainder of her life.  Together, Judy and Wallace became loving parents to two daughters, Lori and Cindy.  Judy loved being a mother and managed the day to day tasks as well as working on the farm while Wallace was away working.  During this time, she found a passion for raising and training standard bred horses.  She trained horses not only for herself but for others as well.  Judy began harness racing at a time when it wasn’t a sport known for women.  Her success earned her top female driver in Iowa in 1980.  Judy also served on the board for the Hawkeye Colt Stakes Iowa Harness Horsemen’s Association and was inducted into the Living Hall of Fame for Iowa Harness Racing in 2012.  She was always known for her toughness while racing, training, and in life.   When she had some free time, she enjoyed artex painting, crocheting and was known by family and friends as a wonderful cook.  She had an ornery streak and loved a good laugh.  Judy always put family first and cherished her time spent with the grandchildren.  She was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother who will be deeply missed.

Judith was preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Bill Trout.

Left to share her story is her loving husband, Wallace Liles of Floris, IA; two daughters, Lori Liles of Floris, IA and Cindy (Steve) Shelangoski of Swisher, IA; four grandchildren, Hailie Rush, Casey (Erica) Shelangoski, Rachel Shelangoski, and Maya Shelangoski; three siblings; Steve (LuAnne) Durham of Eldon, IA, Karen (Jon) Orman of Troy, IA and Donna Durham of Ottumwa, IA, as well as many extended family and a host of friends.
