OTTUMWA – The public is invited to “Christmas on the Islands”, the Ottumwa Symphony Guilds’ 31st Annual Christmas Ball, at Bridge View Center on December 15. This elegant Ball includes Live Music and Hors d’ Oeuvres at 6:00 PM, followed by an Island Paradise Dinner at 7:30 featuring a beef, seafood, and vegetarian option.
The evening continues with dancing to the Ottumwa Symphony Orchestra’s Big Band “No Strings Attached” under the direction of Associate Director David Sharp from 9:00 to 11:00. No Strings Attached features Symphony musicians, joined by jazz professionals from across the state of Iowa. They will be entertaining the audience with Dance Band favorites featuring outstanding vocalist Brooke Lunsford.
Brooke is originally from Eddyville, and attended The University of Iowa as a vocal performance major, earning her bachelor of music and teaching certification in 2016. She is currently in her second year of teaching preschool-4th grade general and modified music at Cardinal Elementary School. Her love for music extends outside the classroom, where she has enjoyed performing at special events and competitions since age 13. She has won titles at venues and competitions throughout Iowa and the United States.

The Symphony Guild works in support of the Orchestra, and is co-chaired by Shea Greiner and Geri Kearney. The balance of their membership includes Kim Ardueser, Pam DeBoer, Stephanie Ellis, Audrey Keck, Christi Kebbe, Jessica Lay, Nicole Peyton, Rachel Pobanz, and Ann Youngman. All profits from this event assists the Ottumwa Symphony Orchestra with costs associated with presenting their 5 annual concerts in Ottumwa.
