Local Family’s Musical Success Continues to Rise

OTTUMWA – Ottumwa’s own family bluegrass band, “The Bluegrass Blondies” recently were honored with the Bluegrass Music Association of Iowa “2018 Bluegrass Band of the Year” award at the association’s annual awards show. The Bluegrass Blondies are a five piece family music group, performing Country, Bluegrass, Gospel, Contemporary, Acapella, and other multi-genre songs to provide entertainment across the Midwest. The Bluegrass Blondies, AKA the Amos Family, consists of Scott (Banjo) and Dawn (Bass) Amos, and their three blonde daughters – Taylor Robinson (Guitar), Bethany Amos (Mandolin) and Hallie Amos, (Fiddle). Other honors include BMAI 2018 Song Writer of the Year (Taylor), SPBGMA 2016 Bluegrass Gospel Group of the Year, BMAI 2017 Entertainers of the Year, BMAI 2017 Banjo Performer of the Year (Scott), and 2015 inductee to the Iowa Bluegrass Hall of Fame (Scott).
