OTTUMWA – The City of Ottumwa has a number of advisory boards and commissions that perform advisory and regulatory functions. Citizens that are interested in serving on a board or commission are encouraged to apply. The following is a list of committees with present openings:
Historic Preservation Commission – Two vacancies. Commissioners serve three-year terms. This Commission promotes and safeguards the City’s historic and cultural significance.
Public Safety Advisory Committee – One opening. Members serve three-year terms. This Committee reviews requests about changes to traffic regulations and makes recommendations to the City Council.
Citizen participation on these boards and commissions does require a commitment of time and effort. Appointments to these Boards and Commissions are made by the Mayor and approved by the Ottumwa City Council. Any resident of Ottumwa who is interested in serving on one of the Boards or Commissions should request an application form at the Mayor’s Office, on the first floor at City Hall.
