OTTUMWA – The Indian Hills Community College Performing and Visual Arts department will host a poetry reading for current students and community members. The public is invited to The Hills Café (adjacent to the IHCC Ottumwa campus library) at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Apr. 16, to enjoy a free evening of poetry. The Hills Café coffee bar will be open to purchase a coffee or sweet treat prior to the reading.
Students in Indian Hills poetry and creative writing courses will be sharing the original works they have been developing throughout the current academic year. Indian Hills has an active creative writing club under the direction of Professor Joy Lyle that meets weekly and encourages students in their writing of poetry, short stories, novels, and plays.
Community poets are welcome to share one or two short pieces of original work at the Apr. 16 poetry reading. Please contact Joy Lyle at 641-683-5144 or firstname.lastname@example.org if you would like to share a creative piece.
