OTTUMWA— Through many conversations, much reflection, and analyzing our current system needs and strengths, Ottumwa Community Schools’ superintendent, Nicole Kooiker has announced administrative changes for the 2019-20 school year.
With an administrative opening at Liberty Elementary, the district had an opportunity to re-examine administrative assignments, according to Kooiker. Another recent change involved the resignation of OHS principal, Dan McGuire. “With changes in his personal life, we are fortunate he has decided to continue to serve the Ottumwa community,” Kooiker said.
Changes for the upcoming year include:
- Steve Zimmerman, Evans principal, will become the new associate principal at Liberty Elementary. He previously served as associate principal at Ottumwa High School prior to serving Evans. After serving the district for 28 years, Zimmerman is seeking to serve the district in a new capacity.
- Dan McGuire, OHS principal, will move to Evans Middle School as principal. McGuire is completing his first year in the Ottumwa system.
- Aaron Ruff, associate principal at OHS, will join McGuire at Evans. Ruff has served as associate principal for two years.
- Shelley Bramschreiber, associate principal at Evans, will move to OHS into a similar role. She previously has served as an Evans teacher and dean of students at OHS prior to her current role at Evans.
“We are looking forward to continuing to build our leadership capacity across the district and also excited about the opportunities that lie ahead for Ottumwa school system,” said Kooiker.
