OCSD Will Host Informational Sessions

OTTUMWA— Ottumwa Community Schools will host two informational sessions for persons who are interested in running for the school board or just curious about how the school board works. The sessions will feature current board members sharing information about what board members do, time commitments, their ethics policy, and the list of board commitments. Other speakers will provide information on district programs and initiatives.

Sessions will be held on Tuesday, August 20 at 5 p.m. in the Ottumwa High School library or Tuesday, September 3 at 7 p.m. at Liberty Elementary School.

Sessions are geared to residents who want to learn more about improving student achievement, have an interest in being a candidate, or simply want to know more about being an advocate for children in our community. Anyone committed to our students’ educational achievement who lives or works in the Ottumwa School District is invited to attend.

The next school board election is November 5. As a community, we want people to consider this opportunity to make an impact on our students and community.
