Greater Ottumwa CVB, Main Street Ottumwa and the International Video Game Hall of Fame announce Downtown Business Video Game Promotion

OTTUMWA – The Greater Ottumwa Convention & Visitors Bureau, Main Street Ottumwa and the International Video Game Hall of Fame are partnering for a new promotion aimed at attracting new customers to downtown businesses and promoting Ottumwa’s video game heritage.  The promotion has two parts:


  1. Where’s Walter?
  • Walter Day cutouts will be placed in participating downtown businesses between September 5 and October 6.  Participating businesses include:
  1. Antiques & Uniques
  2. Polar Xpress
  3. Stitch Doctor
  4. iPhix I.T.
  5. Canteen Lunch in the Alley
  6. Market on Main
  7. Old School Pinball and Arcade
  8. Gamer Tag
  9. Bridge View Center
  10. Ottumwa Pizza Company
  11. Lead Heads Bait & Tackle
  12. The Optical Shoppe
  13. My Chic Boutique
  14. Martha’s Nook & Cranny
  15. The Sewing House
  16. Berry Patch IT Services
  • Participants will pick up passports and contest rules at Old School Arcade at Quincy Place Mall, the Convention and Visitor Bureau in Bridge View Center, Main Street Ottumwa at 217 E. Main St. or any of the participating businesses.
  • Participants will come into participating businesses and locate the cutout.
  • When the cutout is found, the business will sign the passport.


All those completing their passports will receive free admission to the Galaxy of Gaming event on Sunday, October 6, at Quincy Place Mall. This includes 5 hours of free gaming, punch and cake party and drawings for arcade passes, T-shirts and laser tag.


  1. Ottumwa Video Game Trail (coming soon)
  • Video games will be placed in several downtown businesses.  A map/listing of all the video games will be available at CVB office or online at
  • Each month participants can play games at all the businesses and post their combined scores to win a prize from a sponsoring business. Each month a different prize will come from a new sponsoring business.
  • The monthly winner will be cumulative high score of all games from every participating business each month. To have their score recorded, the winner must post their score on Facebook. Participants can post as many scores on each individual game as they want.
