OTTUMWA-Robert Bruce Lemon, 69, of Ottumwa died of pulmonary arterial hypertension, at 5:59 a.m. September 11, 2019 at home.
He was born March 20, 1950 in Oskaloosa to Dr. Kenneth and Marjorie Alberti Lemon. Bob married Mary Ann Griffin on May 7, 1976.
A 1968 graduate of Oskaloosa High School, he attended Pepperdine University and earned a BA in Sociology from the University of Iowa. Bob served as a parole officer in Waterloo. He earned two Masters Degrees from the University of Iowa in Counseling and a Masters in Social Work. He was a school social worker for Great Prairie AEA 15, retiring in 2003.
Bob was a member of the SLOTH Club and was an avid golfer. He enjoyed going to movies, reading (especially the newspaper) and visiting. Bob most importantly enjoyed helping and listening to others.
Surviving is his wife, Mary Ann; his children, Benjamin Lemon (fiancée Erin Ellefson) and Natalie (Derek) Kilgore, both of Kansas City, MO; two brothers, Dr. David (Suzanne) Lemon of Clive and Mark (Susan) Lemon of Woodward; brother-in-law, Rob Griffin of Marshalltown; and three nieces.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Kathleen Robertson and a nephew.
Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Saturday at Reece Funeral Home with cremation following the service.
Visitation begins at 11 a.m. Friday with the family present from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday.
