OTTUMWA -The ‘Hub’ of Walk Starts With You! The Alzheimer’s Association invites Ottumwa area residents to join the fight to end Alzheimer’s by getting involved with organizing and planning this year’s event. A Volunteer Kickoff Party will be held on Tuesday, February 25 at Hub Coffee 2nd Floor meeting room in Ottumwa. Drop in from 11:30 – 12:15 p.m. with an optional meeting from 12:15-1 p.m. Lunch and drawing prizes will be available. Individuals with various business backgrounds, talents and areas of experience who want to make a difference in the community are invited.
Multiple opportunities for involvement are available; including virtual and flexible options for busy schedules and the average time commitment is 3-5 hours per month. Training, staff and resource support are provided and silver cord and volunteer hours are available for high school and college students.
This year’s Walk to End Alzheimer’s 2020 event will take place on Saturday, August 29 at Bridge View Center in Ottumwa. Those interested in learning more about getting involved planning the Walk this year are encouraged to attend the February 25th event. Volunteering for the Walk event is one way to make a difference, give back to the community and fight this disease together.
