Obituaries: Michael Glen “Buddy” Perry

Michael Glen “Buddy” Perry, 49, of Drakesville, Iowa passed away on May 18, 2020 at his home. He was born December 17, 1970 in Chicago, Illinois to Michael Keegan and Mary Catherine Sauer Perry. He graduated from Ottumwa High School and worked at Bloomfield First Resources for over 30 years.

Buddy was always happy and brought joy to those he met. He never met a stranger and was always eager to talk about the Iowa Hawkeyes or the St. Louis Cardinals. He was also interested in rock-and-roll music, trains, barges, and watching tractor pulls at fairs. He was especially proud of his nieces and nephew and loved spending time with them. He was a member of the St. Mary Magdalen Catholic Church in Bloomfield. Buddy was a loving soul who touched many people and displayed a childlike faith.

He is survived by his parents, Mike and Mary Perry of Drakesville; sisters, Margie (Brian) Warning of Bloomfield, Martha Perry of Marion, Iowa; brother, Matt (Deana) Perry of Bloomfield; nieces, Maddy, Abby, Lexy; nephew, Reegan; aunts; uncles; and several cousins.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Glen and Gladys Perry, Marge and Andy Sauer.

Due to Covid-19 restrictions, a private family funeral will be held at the Wagler Funeral Home with burial at the Drakesville Cemetery. The Very Reverend Patrick Hilgendorf will officiate. A rolling visitation without the presence of the family will be held from 2-6:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 21, 2020 at the Wagler Funeral Home. Visitation will be limited to ten people within the funeral home at one time. A memorial has been established to Bloomfield First Resources.
