Rotole Announced as GEAR UP Program Advisor

OTTUMWA – It was announced earlier this year that Indian Hills Community College was selected as one of nine Iowa colleges and universities to be a part of the Gaining Early Awareness and Readiness, or GEAR UP, program.  Now, Indian Hills has a person dedicated to the GEAR UP students who will be attending IHCC this fall.

Jennifer Rotole is the Indian Hills advisor for Ottumwa High School seniors already signed up for the GEAR UP program or who have questions about it.  She will also provide academic support and help conduct regular workshops throughout the school year.

Indian Hills has received a partner grant to assist students as they transition from high school to college.  The services for these students include a summer bridge program which will run from July 27-30 and August 3-6.  The program will last for one hour each day for those eight days and will be conducted virtually.

To help entice OHS seniors to make Indian Hills their college of choice IHCC will award a $500 scholarship to any student in the GEAR UP class of 2020.  All eligible students can also qualify for the Connect 2 College Scholarship, a $1,000 award given to concurrent enrollment students who meet certain qualifications.

Anyone with questions about the GEAR UP program should contact Jessica Chickering at 641-683-5133 or Jessica.Chickering@indianhills.edu.
