OTTUMWA – Phyllis Lucille James, 86, of Ottumwa, died at 1:54 p.m. June 27, 2020 at Bloomfield Care Center.
She was born December 20, 1933 in Ottumwa to Leo and Phyllis L. Jerred Tee. She married Vinton L. “Red” James January 5, 1952 and he preceded her in death February 3, 1989.
A graduate of Ottumwa High School, Phyllis was a homemaker. She was a Girl Scout Leader and was involved in the PTA while her children were in school. She enjoyed baking, reading and crocheting. Most importantly she loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Surviving are her children, Mark (Kelly) James of Mt. Pleasant; Brian (Gina) James and Phyllis Louise James (Kelly Hughes) both of Ottumwa; 10 grandchildren, Courtney (Shawn) Harkins, Cassie (Joe) Rich, Betsy (Ian) Hougland, Kennedy James, Shayla (Chad) Chapman, Shalea (Ray) James, Levi (Lindsey) James, Spencer Ehrenhard, Chloe James, Seth Sammons; 12 great grandchildren, Hannah, Carter, and Cohlson Harkins, Gus, Huxton and Markie Rich, Bennett Hougland, Chayse and Alec Chapman, Ivy Ochoa, Lucy and Layla James; and a brother, Bill Tee of Garden Grove, CA.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and a brother, Leo “Snook” Tee.
Graveside services and burial will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at Memorial Lawn Cemetery with Pastor Bill Hornback officiating.
