OTTUMWA – In a collaborative effort, the Legacy Foundation, City of Ottumwa, Main Street Ottumwa, and Greater Ottumwa Partners in Progress will be celebrating the reopening  and improvements to the 100-300 blocks of East Main Street in downtown Ottumwa.

On October 29th, 12-8 p.m., the celebration will begin with a Main Street “Mask”arade. Community members wearing masks can enjoy store specials, sidewalk sales, and outdoor dining along Main Street (weather permitting).

At 5 p.m. a Ribbon Cutting Ceremony will be held on Main Street by Canteen Alley Breezeway. The City will be presented the Small Business Administration’s Community of the Year Award for 2020. Immediately following Mayor Tom Lazio, Kelly Genners, President/CEO of the Legacy Foundation, and Fred Zesiger, Executive Director Ottumwa Main Street will address the public about the community endurance and unified efforts it took to complete the Streetscape project. Following the presentations at 5:30 p.m., the GOPIP Ambassadors will complete the ceremony and milestone with a ribbon cutting. Community members can watch the event on Facebook Live from the ONE!
